Start of demonstrative exercise “Quick Response 2017“ at Sarajevo International Airport

Demonstrative army exercise "Quick Response 2017" has today started at Sarajevo International Airport. First day was held a simulation of terrorist strike into the airport complex and inspection and removal of unattended – dangerous baggage.
According to scenario of the exercise a group of terrorists raid into the complex of Sarajevo International Airport in order to commit a terrorist act but they are liquidated by policemen of the Sarajevo Airport Border Police Unit. The scenario also includes a wounded EUFOR member who is administered first aid and then transported to a medical facility for further treatment due to his critical condition.
Further, an unattended bag is noticed that possibly contains an explosive device. For that reason a bomb squad of BiH Border Police is called to check if there are dangerous stuff in the bag and to remove it. The inspection is performed by a “ROBOT“ which takes the bag from a safe distance, puts it into a „BALL“ for transport of dangerous material to the location where it will be destructed.
Participants of the exercise are as follows: Bomb squad of the Sarajevo Airport Border Police Unit, employees of the Sector for security and protection and the Sector for air traffic and aviation services of Sarajevo International Airport, Rescue and Fire Service, Ambulance Service of Sarajevo Airport, and EUFOR members.
Emergency centre of Sarajevo Airport rated the exercise favourably.
We would like to remind you that „Quick Response 2017“ is the exercise supporting peace in which for the first time the BiH agencies for enforcement of the law, BiH Army forces and EUFOR practice together, in a realistic scenario, in order to test their Emergency plans.
